Edit a PDF

Add text, cover up or highlight parts of a page, draw, and place images or a signature. Your PDF is edited right in your browser.

How to edit a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF into the box above. It opens right here in your browser.
  2. Pick a tool: Text to type on the page, White-out to cover something, Highlight, Box, Draw for freehand or a signature, or Image to place a picture or signature scan.
  3. Click Select to move, resize or delete what you've added. Undo takes back the last change.
  4. Click Save PDF and download your edited file.

Common questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The editor runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device. That makes it a good choice for contracts, forms and other private documents.

Can I change the text that's already in the PDF?

Not directly. Cover the old words with White-out, then type the new text on top with the Text tool. The result looks like an edit.

Does White-out remove information for good?

No. It covers what's underneath, but the original text is still inside the file and someone could copy it out. Don't use it to hide private details like account or ID numbers.

How do I sign a PDF?

Use Draw to sign with your mouse, finger or stylus, or use Image to place a photo or scan of your signature. You can move and resize either one.

Which characters can I type?

Letters, numbers and punctuation used in English and most Western European languages. Emoji and some other characters can't be written with the PDF's built-in fonts. Filekin tells you if any were replaced.

Will forms and links still work?

Yes. Everything already in the PDF is kept. Your edits are added on top.
