Flatten a PDF
Turn filled-in form fields and comments into a permanent part of the page, so nobody can change them after you send the file. It all happens in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded.
How to flatten a PDF
- Drop your PDF into the box above, or click to choose it.
- Choose whether to flatten forms and comments, or only form fields.
- Click Flatten PDF and download your file. What was filled in is now part of the page.
Common questions
What does flattening a PDF do?
It turns fillable form fields, check boxes and comments into a fixed part of the page. They look the same, but nobody can change, clear or remove them any more.
When should I flatten a PDF?
Before you send a filled-in form, so the answers can't be altered, or when a form prints or shows differently in different apps. Flattened files look the same everywhere.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Flattening happens entirely in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device.
Will links still work?
Yes. Links are left as they are. Only form fields and comments are flattened.
Why did a comment disappear?
Some comments, like many sticky notes, are only an icon with a pop-up and have nothing to print on the page. Those are removed, and Filekin tells you how many.
Can I fill the form in again afterwards?
No. Keep your original if you might need to change the answers.
