BR-CO-16 Amount due doesn't match
The amount due must equal the total with VAT, minus anything already paid, plus rounding.
What the rule says
Amount due for payment (BT-115) = Invoice total amount with VAT (BT-112) -Paid amount (BT-113) +Rounding amount (BT-114).
The rule's official wording (CEN / KoSIT). The German XRechnung rules are published in German.
Why it happens
The amount due (BT-115) isn't the total with VAT, minus the amount already paid (BT-113), plus rounding (BT-114).
How to fix it
Record prepayments in the prepaid amount field rather than lowering the total, and recalculate the amount due.
Applies to
Every EN 16931 e-invoice: XRechnung, ZUGFeRD / Factur-X, Peppol and others.
More about BR-CO-16
The amount due is what the buyer still has to pay. It must equal the total with VAT, minus anything already paid, plus the rounding amount. Unlike the other totals, this one is compared exactly, without any rounding step in between.
Worked example: a final invoice of 1,190.00 including VAT, after a deposit of 500.00. The total with VAT stays 1,190.00, the paid amount (BT-113) is 500.00, and the amount due is 690.00. If the file instead sets the amount due to 690.00 without a paid amount, or lowers the total with VAT to 690.00, the numbers no longer add up.
For a credit note or a fully prepaid invoice, the amount due can be 0.00. It must still be written into the file.
