PEPPOL-EN16931-R020 Seller electronic address missing
XRechnung requires the seller's electronic address, usually an email address.
What the rule says
Seller electronic address MUST be provided
The rule's official wording (CEN / KoSIT). The German XRechnung rules are published in German.
Why it happens
XRechnung requires the seller's electronic address (BT-34), usually an email address, and it's missing.
How to fix it
Add your email address as the seller's electronic address (scheme EM).
Applies to
XRechnung (taken over from the Peppol rules).
More about PEPPOL-EN16931-R020
XRechnung took this rule over from Peppol: the seller must have an electronic address, the address at which the seller can receive electronic documents such as a rejection or a credit note. It's written with a scheme that says what kind of address it is.
For most small businesses the simplest choice is an email address with scheme EM. Businesses connected to the Peppol network use their Peppol participant ID instead, with the matching scheme code, for example 0088 for a GLN or 9930 for a German VAT ID.
This is a different field from the contact email (BT-43, rule BR-DE-7). Both may hold the same address.
The fields involved
- BT-34 Seller electronic address
- CII
ram:SellerTradeParty/ram:URIUniversalCommunication/ ram:URIID - UBL
cac:AccountingSupplierParty/cac:Party/ cbc:EndpointID
Typical situations
- The software only writes the contact email, not the electronic address.
- The invoice was converted from ZUGFeRD, where the electronic address is optional.
Example
The seller's electronic address as an email (CII):
<ram:SellerTradeParty>
...
<ram:URIUniversalCommunication>
<ram:URIID schemeID="EM">[email protected]</ram:URIID>
</ram:URIUniversalCommunication>
...
</ram:SellerTradeParty>
